1. Clárúcháin
Má tá páiste agat gur mhaith leat a chlárú ins an Ghaelscoil do Mhéan Fómhair 2017 ba cheart duit an fhoirm chláraithe a líonadh anois agus é a sheoladh arais go dtí an scoil. Beidh an mhaidin oscailte againn ar an 4ú lá de mhí Mhártá idir 11 – 1.
If you have a child that you would like to enroll in the Gaelscoil for September 2017 or if you know of anyone interested in enrolling in the Gaelscoil for next year enrolment forms are now available . Our enrolment morning will take place on Saturday, 4th March, 11- 1 p.m.


2. R.S.E.
Beidh R.S.E. “na hábhair mothálacha” ar siúl i ngach rang amárach. Fuair gach chlann litir faoi.
R.S.E. sensitive issues takes place in the Gaelscoil tomorrow, Wednesday. All parents should have received a letter and link in this regard.


3. Inservice Day
Beidh lá inseirbhíse don churaclam nua teanga ar an 31/1/’17 agus beidh an scoil dúnta don lá.
Please note that the school will be closed on the 31/1/’17 due to an inservice day on the new Language Curriculum.


4. Tráth na gCeist – Comhar Creidmheasa
Táimid ag cur dhá fhoireann tráth na gceist isteach ins an gcomórtas Comhar Creidmheasa. Múinteoir Éanna atá i gceannas ar seo. Go n-éirí go geal leo.
We are entering two quiz teams , one under 11 and the other under 13 for the Credit Union Quiz which takes place on Saturday. Our teams are being prepared by Múinteoir Éanna.


5. English Debating
Tá súil againn go n-éireoidh go geal leis ár bhfoireann díospóireachta - Liam, Niamh, Fionáin, Jack, Moya agus Chloe. Beidh siad ag glacadh páirte ins an dara babhta den chomórtas.
Best of luck to our English debating team of Liam, Niamh, Fionáin, Jack, Moya and Chloe who are taking part in the second round of the English debating competition on this Thursday against a team from Abbeycarton N.S. The motion is “We should only eat food produced in Ireland” and we are opposing the motion. Thanks to Múinteoir Cáit for all her work preparing the team.


6. Gníomaíochtaí eile / Other activities
Táimid an ghnóthach i láthair na huaire sa Ghaelscoil.
This is a very busy term in the Gaelscoil. The senior classes are involved in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme and are also writing stories for the Roscommon Drama Festival Competition. The middle classes are preparing for the Féile Ceoil, Coirm Gael Linn and Féile Scoil Dramaíochta. Some classes are writing books for the “Scríobh Leabhar” (Write a book) project while other classes are busy writing poems for Strokestown International Poetry Festival. Rang 2 are preparing for the Sacrament of First Confession. Standardized testing will be taking place for Naíonáin Mhóra (MIST test) and Rang 1 (Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning Tests) and our work is continuing to ensure that we will be awarded the 7th green flag – Global Citizenship.


7. German teacher
Beimid ag cur fáilte roimh Simone Remmers, múinteoir Gearmáinise chuig na scoile don seachtain ag tosnú an 6ú lá de mhí Feabhra.
We will be delighted to welcome Simone Remmers to the Gaelscoil for the week starting 6th February. Simone is a primary school teacher from Germany and she will spend the week with us teaching German to all classes, teaching all classes about Germany in geography class and immersing herself in life in Gaelscoil de hÍde. She is looking forward to observing our methodologies in language teaching and learning more about our culture. Simone is the partner teacher in our current eTwinning project “Hallo Deutschland”, “Hello Ireland”.
